How it works.

The fees behind each number

eBay. 13.6% of the total in most categories, plus $0.40 per order ($0.30 at $10 or less).

Mercari. 10% of the item price plus any shipping the buyer pays. No separate processing fee.

Poshmark. $2.95 flat under $15, 20% at $15 and up. The buyer pays the shipping label.

Depop. No selling fee in the US. Payment processing is 3.3% plus $0.45. Boosted sales cost extra.

Facebook Marketplace, shipped. 10% of the order total, $0.80 minimum, on shipped orders.

Facebook Marketplace, local pickup. No selling fee for local pickup. No shipping either.

Shipping

The calculator assumes you offer free shipping and pay the label yourself, which is how most resellers price on eBay, Mercari and Depop. Poshmark buyers pay for a prepaid label by default, so your label cost is not counted there. Local pickup has no label at all.

Choosing where to sell

The lowest fee is not always the best home. A marketplace with more buyers for your item can sell it faster and at a better price. The marketplace fee comparison covers where different kinds of items tend to do well.

Depop boosted listing fees, eBay Store discounts and promoted listings are not included.
